Middle Eastern Dance training includes traditional Raqs Sharqi, Ghawazee, Khaleegy, folk and Roma styles, Assaya (Cane Dance), and Veil work.
Kim has her AFLCA (Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association) training in Group Exercise and has created a popular Dance Conditioning class that promotes fitness and fun. She also loves to teach children and has created World Dance for Kids classes that introduce kids to the art, music and soul of different world dance styles. Sharing joy and having fun are what dancing is all about!
She also has a background in:
- Hip Hop
- Polynesian dance.
She has performed in restaurants, on stage, at parties, weddings, and at community events and has taught numerous classes and workshops.
She travelled to Turkey in 2006 to learn from Turkish Professional dancers and Gypsy Roma. She has studied with many amazing dancers including Alia Thabit, Anya, Aziza, Barbara Oliveira, Hadia, Hala Jamal, Helena Vlahos, Hindy, Jalilah, Karim Nagi, Melissa Gamal, Nadira, Nourhan Sharif, Sahra Saeeda, Sashar Zarif, and Yasmina Ramzy. She enjoys dancing with the Rocky Mountain Raqs Troupe and Miss Ellen Q and the Pumas in the Bow Valley and regularly performs at festivals, fundraisers and community events. Kim enjoys sharing the powerful energy and joy inherent to Oriental Dance with others. She has been a sought after instructor for the last 12 years and has had the pleasure of teaching classes at studios all over the Bow Valley and for many organizations including the Banff Centre’s Leadership Development Program, Bow Valley Learning, Field Elementary School, The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, and the Canmore Folk Festival. She regularly teaches classes and workshops for different conference groups, bridal parties and special events.
